If you prefer working out at home use these tips to make your space more inviting, comfortable, and efficient!
Exercise doesn’t have to be at a gym, and it doesn’t have to cost thousands to create a space at home that keeps you motivated.
1. Decide if you want it to be permanent or portable. Do you often have to move from room to room depending on the day? Or does your exercise routine always happen in one particular spot? This will determine what you need to nurture success.
2. Choose the floor cover. If you prefer outside, make sure it’s in a level area. Inside you may consider gym pads or a yoga mat.
3. Use what you have. If you have a pool, consider adding water aerobics to your routine. If you live on a greenway or next to a park, incorporate that space as part of your “home gym”. If space is limited, consider a routine that is high impact but not moving around a lot.
4. DIY! Try out low-cost options like using tires, ropes, sandbags, and buckets for weightlifting, sled for pull exercises, and cones for cardio. Make sure to keep these near your workout area.
Planning and ease make for successful workout sessions! Evaluate what is realistic and fits your lifestyle and you are much more likely to want to workout.
